1. me neither :/
2. ty, fixed icon_wink.gif
3. is "Ring" in that series, or am I thinking of another series? about them making a timetravel project and it goes wrong, and the ship ends up being split into different groups of people, one who is all super selective breeding, with no technology, and the other is sort of a dark technology type civilisation?

Nope, Wheel of Time is a fantasy series, with currenlty 11 books all over 600 pages long:D It's very nice to read, and that's currently my favorite series.

Its in the book from the first Dune Book its the mantra of the mentats and is often repeated.Just as the *Fear* speech which someone else uses is the mantra of the Bene Gesserit and is also often repeated.

Yep M-K's got it.

So now, a multiple-part trivia question:

What is the name of the character who says this line in the original movie made in 1984? What is the actor's name? And last, what movie from last year was he in, which was also based on a book, and what was his character's name in it?

I have never EVER seen the movie, so I can't answer any of these questions.
But I'm gonna guess anyways:
The mentat of the Atreides( I can't rmember his name)
John Rhys Davies
Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
Gimli.

1. Mentat, yes, but not of the Atreides.
2. No.
3. Yes!
4. No.

1 down.....

Also, can anyone tell me the first scene in the 1984 Dune movie that Paul Atreides uses the Fear mantra? icon_smile.gif

Should be when he sticks his hand in the box thingy right before they move to Dune.

And I stopped reading WoT. Jordan, enough already! Finish the damn series!!! Do you know how annoying it is trying to keep track of all his plots? I swear that he forgets some plot angles that he introduced...

Nope, he uses them all, I've searched high and low, and he finishes all of them, either in the books, or somewhere else on the web he mentions it again.
Oh, and book eleven is just out, so read that too, it should be nice icon_biggrin.gif
BUT JUST READ THE DAMN THING! It's brilliant!(Except for the fact that it is indeed getting a bit TOO long)

Right on, Maul, about the scene!

Still no answers about the other questions? Okay, I'll give another part of #1 away, but not the actual name, because that would make it too easy for anyone to use IMDB to get the other two answers.....

The character is the *Harkkonnen* Mentat..... icon_smile.gif

Well, here is one for ya then, What ever happened to the person who tried to Kill Perrin in the dream World?

*Thinks Back*

Book... I dunno, mid series I think, when Perrin's home gets attacked through the gateway. There was some noble who was trying to kill Perrin in the dream world. Perrin ended up wounding him in the dream and the guy then fled. He was acting like a Noble or some sort...

What happened to that guy ;p

Ermm, to be honest, can't remember that that happened. Ermm, yeah, that was some guy who had something to do with the attacks on twostreams emot-yum.gif
Besides, the series is so huge, that he'll finish up some threads that are left open, just trust him icon_wink.gif

You seriously don't know what Dune is? You're kidding!

Do yourself a favor and watch the first movie made from the books, by far the best, which was released in 1984, written and directed by David Lynch! If by some happy coincidence you like Science Fiction, you'll love it! icon_wink.gif

Yes, book is good, and I liked it, but for *introduction* to the whole Dune thing, I always recommend the movie, because otherwise people *might* be a bit bored with some of those longer scenes in the book! Then, if they like the movie, I tell 'em to read the book.

Okay, you're killing me here. I thought for sure someone would have said it already, which is why I didn't post a week ago. The name of the mentat Is Pieter (sp?), as mentioned attached to the Harkkonnen family, not Thuffer Hawatt of the Atreides. He says it (in the movie) on the way to see the Baron (he's flying in a ship, he says the mantra, he drinks, he gets stained, he says it again)

I'd have to pop the tape in to catch the actors name, so good luck on that one.

Lord of the Rings? Duh! I remember thinking it at the time I watched the movie, but not until someone mentioned it did I remember the answer.

The character is the sniveling advisor to the King (can you say type casting?), Poisontongue or Wormtongue or Serpentongue, I can't remember his specific name. I do believe it's the second one though, and it bothers me I can't remember for sure.

OMG I refuse to believe you guys are being serious about not knowing what Dune is, let alone ever seeing the movie!!! weirdlook.gif

hehehe...Hokay.... If you are into Science Fiction, and dark, ominous ambience in movies, RENT AND WATCH DUNE!!! It's by David Lynch (as I mentioned) based on the book by Frank Herbert. If you like it - which I'll bet my soul you will - then read the book(s). No amount of emoticons and typing I do can convey to you how good it is! Just bear in mind it (the movie) *was* made in 1984, so some of the effects are a bit, ah, dated.

It's very hard to describe, because it's a _huge_ story, but it's basically about this planet that makes a substance that no other planet in the entire universe does, and it gives people strong psychic powers and a mysterious race of people live there, and another race uses it to 'bend space', and there's wars between Great Houses trying to control the planet, and blood and fighting and people blowing things up just by speaking certain words! WHEEEE!

IT'S THE WEEKEND. GO OUT AND RENT IT. NOW. IF YOU CANNOT, GET IT FROM AMAZON.COM OR EBAY!!!
