The Half-Elf sits by his fire, pondering some of the things that have transpired in his life recently. So many changes, and so soon.

First, it seemed that one morning he just woke up, and anytime he happened upon a beast that he had to defend himself against, he was stronger than before. His skills with his bow and sword, his strength, just his overall handling of the situation seemed to be improved. He could not find any explanation for this, but then, he was not one to question his own natural abilities. His newfound skill did not feel unhealthy or unnatural, and so he welcomed it and was thankful.

Secondly, the kind leader of his Order had decided to take leave of the island of Dysotopia for an indeterminate period of time - and had left him "in charge"! He was indeed upset that his close friend had to leave, and not knowing for how long, but he was sure he would return in a much more focused state of mind. However, the leadership of the Order being thrust on him was something he was definitely not prepared for, and although it did not disturb in overmuch, he felt there was much to be done. The Howling Wolfs needed to be brought together and their goals strengthened, new members found, and he felt he could help make this happen for the good of all in the land.

Lastly, he had met several interesting people in his travels recently, and had noticed some strange going-on's in Elriina around the same time. Some of the birds who frequented the fountain there had given him the feeling that there were some who, like him, felt something of extrodinary magnitude may be happening soon in Dysotopia.

Getting up, he stamps out the fire and pours some sand and dirt upon it. He closes his eyes, breathes deep, and the smell of the sea mixed with the smoke calms his mind. He opens his eyes and makes his way towards Gerberria Reef, to see if the Kuo-Toa are buggering any travellers to death.

Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye, he catches some movement. He turns to look, and it almost seems as though he spots someone - perhaps a woman - on their way over the bridge into South Jeshan.

Raisthenal summons Dular, and whispers to the wolf to do his usual investigation, and quick return...

((in reference to: http://dyso.joelpt.net/forums/viewtopic.php?p=51713#51713 ))

Raisthenal makes his way over the bridge, and into South Jeshan. He takes his time, but his senses are alert, and not just because of the Bugbears that frequent the area. If that was indeed someone who was running this way, they appeared to not want to be seen. Nothing unusual - and he is the silent type himself - but those who wish not to be seen are sometimes best kept watch on.

Over the bridge, he stoops down and dips some berries in the river, and munches them. Behind him is a noise, but he senses it is only Dular.

There is a scrap of clothing in the Dire Wolf's jaws.

"Dular! Wha'd ya do?" Raisthenal says harshly, snatching the cloth from his friend.

He examines it closely, but it appears to be nothing more than an indication that Dular had a conversation with a Bugbear.

"HAH! Good boy!" Raisthenal laughs, and ruffles Dular's head. "Find anything besides toys to play with, boy?"

Dular looks off in the direction of Kangerlah, but looks down at the ground and whines. He looks pleadingly up at Raisthenal, then away again.

"It'ssalright, boy. If there was someone there, they might be good at hidin'. But we're headed that way, anyways. Let's go. Keep yer eyes peeled, tho."

The pair make their way towards Kangerlah, but partway there, the Ranger notices something odd in the grass. He bends down to take a look.

"Hmm...the way these are bent -". He studies the grass a bit more.
He takes of his glove and feels some of it.
"And they seem fresh," he mumbles under his breath.
"Dular, let's go this way, boy. I think our mysterious traveller turned and went up North. And I feel like doing a little tracking."

They head up through Jeshan, keeping close to the trees. Raisthenal begins to get the oddest feeling, almost as though he *needs* to find out who the person - he's been quite convinced by several more tracks that he is indeed on a fresh humanoid trail - who this person is. He can't explain it, but he feels pulled.

He can tell, though, by the way that the trail passes up through dangerous territory that he must skirt in order to avoid large packs of Gnolls, that this person must be stealthy indeed to walk so boldly out in the open and not be set upon by the fell dog-creatures. Of course, the stranger might just be as good at defending themselves against the beasts as he is...

If indeed, he could be getting himself into trouble. This could be someone who does not want finding, no matter what, and if they are this stealthy, chances are they might know he's following them.

His mind is wandering a bit on this, as he and Dular pass a particularly thick, dark grove of trees. Dular sniffs the air a bit, but Raisthenal does not notice, being too intent on the way ahead.

Then he gets the strangest feeling that he's being watched.....
