You must be the most crapped-on kid I've ever met.
ABBA! A B B A! It's the first letter of the first names of the band members.
Agnetha, Björn, Benny, Anni-Frid
ABBA
Huge, and I'm serious here, HUGE Swedish popgroup.
They started in 1972 and remained active until 1982. Its members were Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid "Frida" Lyngstad. It all begun when Agnetha met Björn backstage on a TV show. She was asked to do a duet together with Anni-Frid for Björn and Benny, for a while. They did a little touring for a year, and in 1973 they released their first record under the name ABBA. The album was called "Ring Ring".
The group's breakthrough came when they won the Eurovision song contest in 1974 with the song "Waterloo". (Heck man, you never heard 'Waterloo'?!) After that they became very successful with songs like S.O.S, The Winner Takes it all, Dancing Queen, Ring Ring, Gimme Gimme Gimme, Fernando, Money money money, Super Trouper, Take a Chance on me, Voulez Vous, Thank you for the music, Mamma mia, Knowing me knowing you, and many many more.
After their victory in the Eurovision song contest, ABBA's music soon became the best played music in the world for many years to come. It was Björn and Benny who wrote all the texts and music, which then was performed with instruments which they played, and Agnetha's and Anni-Frid's beautiful song. They did alot of touring all around the world. Europe, America and Australia were all visited more than once. Their last performance was in Japan in 1980 and at that time the estimated sale of ABBA records was near 200 million!!
1978 they released a documentary movie about the band. Called "ABBA the Movie".
Now, how can you NOT have heard about a group who has sold over 200 million records?!
And how can you NOT have heard songs like Dancing Queen or Waterloo?!
ABBA Photo Album!
Another ABBA Photo Album!
Yeah, look at those spiffy 70's outfits! Swedish ABBA forever!!
"You are the Dancing Queen, young and sweet, only seventeen
Dancing Queen, feel the beat from the tambourine
You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life
See that girl, watch that scene, dig in the Dancing Queen" |

While, I'll admit that not hearing of ABBA is a little odd, I suppose it could happen. Kindo, ever heard of Screeching Weasel? If not, they have 10's of Millions of albums being sold since 1987, spanning 35+ albums and compilation discs. Heh, probably not many Americans have heard of them either. Such a shame... punk music has turned forever into being just Green Day, No Doubt, and my future wife, Avril Lavgine.
With that, I'm flipping on the ABBA and getting out my disco pants! |

So ABBA is to Sweden as The Beatles and Elvis (yes I know elvis wasnt a band) is to the USA? I figured it was some band because they come up with the most retarded names. _________________ KitsuneJin - Fox Person

ABBA is world famous, you know.
If someone doesn't know about ABBA (YOU FOR EXAMPLE) that person should be crappified for life. |
