Does burning the cadavers really help the lag? The way I see it, they disappear in anycase- is this really required?  Reply with quote

Additionaly, if corpses add to the lag, perhaps we should consider removing them. Sure they add to the atmosphere, but if they are a principle lag producer, maybe we can live without them for a while.

Can't they just appear after the baddie is ded? How does it work without the scripting, I forget now. Doesn't the treasure just appear?

Yes, little bags with stuff inside. Then the bags disappear after about 5 seconds once empty and closed. But otherwise I think they last forever. Maybe that could be changed, but at least corpses disappear.

I like burning corpses. muhahaha! Yes, that helps the lag, but it's just fun. And yes, they add to the atmosphere a LOT, IMO, so I think they should stay. Maybe just make 'em disappear sooner.

I liked the old loot system, you had to be quick aswell because otherwise the badgers would clean it.... the badgers dont/or barely eat the corpses and I think the corpses are the main server crashers. icon_exclaim.gif

If you meant "the main reason the server crashes", that is not true. They do cause lag, yes, but they don't stay long enough to cause a major problem.

I'll tell you what *is* a problem. People going invis/running through Eastern Forest Pass and Eastern Plains to get to Butterfly, or doing same through Gerek's Pass and the Northern Forests going to Sylvandale, spawning a bajillion Ogres/Goblins/Spiders/Undead.

My characters don't mind being the center of attention at an Ogre convention, but people, live monsters don't just blink out of existance when you leave them behind.

i love to burn corpses, its justifying setting 50 ogre corpses to blaze in a section of the woods, like a mass grave.... icon_twisted.gif

no the corspes are not a principle cause of lag, i was here when they added them and lag was actually worse before them (most likely because the servers have been improved) but mayeb cuz we dont have all those bags around. i think i heard that there was a memory leak accosiated with body bags (now called "remains")
