Well the latest Dyso SoU mod is running on my pc over a cable modem. I have had some great uptimes(not one crash) and very little lag but never really had over 8 people logged in. So come and play here if you want to create a SoU char and play with some new stuff. _________________ Stupid is as stupid does....

Cool, but I don't have the game yet. Not until the 27th.
And Shadowleaf...like it has been said so many times, SoU will run through a series of tests before Dyso will be upped. And you also have to wait until it's available for everyone (some of us have to wait until June 27). |

Bri I just wanted to say that that Test Server was running beautifully. True, I was like the only one playing on it, but still.... |

I hope you guys aren't going to update the main server to SoU anytime soon...
I, for example, will only be buying the expansion in August (i'll have enough money then)...
And since everyone with SoU will be able to play with 1.30... I don't see the point on updating the main servers for now... _________________ "Nothing that is beautiful in life is taken away with death" |

there is a point! how could you guys not see it? craft trap depends on the new granade - like weapons and u can only add those in SoU toolset. so thats the point. eventually it would be cool to upgrade the main server so we can use crap trap and grenade - like weapons. also, maybe they will add areas using a new tileset and new placeables. _________________

Basically, there needs to be a vote as to when to implement SoU in, and another vote for wipe or not to wipe |

better wipe, ppl will be asking left and right "Delete my character so i can get prestige class!" or something like that. |

look.. this discussion is pointless...
OF COURSE everyone will want SoU to be implemented...
My point is: it shouldnt be implemented anytime SOON... the game isnt even out in some parts of the world!!!
Plus, not everyone is rich and is able to afford buying a freakin' expansion pack or game as soon as it hits the shelves... so patience is the key here...
as soon as a good percentage of the community gets SoU, THEN it should be implemented, not before... _________________ "Nothing that is beautiful in life is taken away with death" |

just make a new character...
remember: Prestige Classes are multiclass, so If you have a fighter, you'll probably be weakened by such classes as assassin, Arcane Archer, Shadow Dancer, and others. _________________ Matthijs says:

Implementing SoU won't keep people w/o it from playing, right? They'll be able to connect as long as they have the 1.3 patch? Is that wrong?
Sorry I don't know exactly how it works.
If the answer to this is "Yes" then who cares if 1/2 the community doesn't have it yet? If the answer is No then I guess I can see reason for some pause.
But wipe=bad idea either way. People aren't required to make a character with prestige classes and tumble skill and who knows what else. Some probably will, but noone has to. _________________ Peace,

No merchant, it's only the other way around. If they compile it with SoU, then those without SoU cant play it, it's one way only(due to tilesets etc.). But the other way around is possible, if they make with 1.3, people with SoU can still play. _________________

ok you cant play the old one if you have SoU and i know from first hand but the server does need to wait until its at least available to the whole worl before updating and that is on the 27th. after that please update soon and the SoU isnt very expensive at all so most people will get it soon. _________________ corsan firebrand |

K, to lay to rest all of the questions that are just repeaditly being asked over and over, no we aren't going to put the server on SoU for quite some time. If it were 100% up to me , I'd say not until the next patch (1.31) comes out... Ooo... Actually it is up to me. I doubt it'll be that long, but don't expect to see if for a few weeks or more. As I've stated here, there's nothing really super fantastic to make the switch. All of the major updates (as I've now said 17 time, Teapot ) are included in the 1.30 patch, not SoU. All SoU added was feats, presitgue classes, skills, and a couple new tilesets. All of which (excluding the tilesets) can be used by any player who has SoU. The module does not need to be SoU for the skills, feats, etc. |

On an ironic and somewhat related note, SoU is suffering from the same copy-protection problems that plagued NWN 1.21 and 1.22. Didn't they learn anything the first time?

You people really are funny... Biowares programmers have absolutely ZERO influence on the damn copy protection, it's SECUROM V4 and it's on every Atari(Infogrames) game. Not a single code line of that copy protection scheme is written by bioware. But we all know that they must be at fault, they wrote the bad OC too, right |

It's not on every Atari game - it was removed from NWN in the 1.23 patch after Bioware and Atari (then Infogrames) were flooded with thousands of complaints. Where have you been? _________________ AKA: Insomnia@GameFAQs, SarcophaGuy@Bioboards
