One thing I always enjoyed about some games is that they have a sort of trading quest, like The Legend of Zelda for gameboy, for example. This is where you start off being able to buy say... I watermelon, and out there somewhere in the world, someone wants that watermelon. Give it to him and he trades you for... a golden pin. Give that golden pin to someone else out there in the world, and they give you... a book of martial arts, and so on. After about... 10-15 different trades, you finally come upon the last trade, and you are rewarded with a sum of gold, a magic item, a special boss fight, or something else.

You should also make it so they CANNOT do this again. Make the items undroppable and untradeable, and if they are in your inventory at conversation starts, make it so they cannot do it agian.

They already have it in Dysotopia. Emerald armour - Seeds of life - Special item from guardian of life.

More would be good, but just thought I'd point out that it exists.

Well no that's the thing, it wouldn't cause your quest to restart because all you would have to do is when you initially talk to the person, it will check for the item. So say for example, ten trades into it, you deside to quit playing. Well, you come back a week later (after a small number of crashes) and you go and talk to recipient number eleven, well he will check your inventory when you start off and say, "Oh! I need that!" And he will take it, and give you another item in return, thus, the next person will check your inventory, so it will have absolutely no quest variables involved at all. Heck, you don't even have to make it have quest talk, but it could just be something that is there for people to search for.
