Neat new SoU or 1.30 feature (mentioned in the forums)

Hurt someone moer than 50 dmg at one time and the target makes a fortitude save at DC 15, and if it fails it DIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! icon_twisted.gif icon_twisted.gif icon_twisted.gif icon_twisted.gif icon_twisted.gif icon_twisted.gif icon_twisted.gif

Well, DC 15 is pretty useless. So it's appearantly not to get an insta-death hit on strong creatures. More like easy-kill low creatures.  Reply with quote

I hear the Arcane Archer's 10th Level Death Arrow only has a DC of like 15 or 17, also. BLEH. icon_evil.gif

Why in the hell are we not spamming? This is still a half-way decent discussion.

Inconceivable!

It's called 'Death by massive damage,' and it is a 3rd Edition PnP rule. If a medium-sized creature takes 50 or more points of damage from one attack (I'm not sure if its just physical attack or ANY attack) then the creature must make a fortitude save DC 15 or die. For small-sized creatures, this damage is 40.

What Fox said, I wasn't even going to post on it, but yes, it's a PnP rule...

And it's also wrong yet again... Fox can verify this, as is anyone that has the books...

Fort dc 15? Try 50.

It's supposed to be if and when you get damage over 50... like this

50 Damage+ Extra damage done=Fort save versus damage done over 50 fort save or die

Meaning if I got a 78 damage critical with a sycthe... on a mage... with my half orc barbarian...

He has to make a fort save versus a dc of 38 or die...

lol...

like that, yeah... im pretty sure...

Damnit! It's always like this. You hear about this new rule coming to NWN, and you go all like: "Wootidi woot woot" and then you find out that the ORIGINAL rule on which it's based on is lots cooler. icon_sad.gif

Whoa, that's WAAAAY wrong, Jon boy. Its flat out DC 15 and that's it. Now, if you were looking at the COUP DE GRACE, that's a different story. If I coup de grace you and it doesn't kill you, you have to make a fortitude save against a DC 10 + Damage dealt or die. But for massive damage, its simply DC 15. That's it.

*looking in his old D&D books* shiznat

Yes, Fox is right, hrmm... fook, well the way I thought about would be cooler.... but yeah, those damned plague critters with 40 billion damage blows would be hard to beat without a level 150 barb icon_rolleyes.gif

Coup De Grace..... I wish they had more opportunities to use this on PCS

A.K.A.

(Ok this is going to sound a little off)

A level 20 mage casts an uber level 3 spell called hold person on a level 20 fighter, level 20 fighters 5 will fails him and he's stuck for 20 rounds...

All the while subjected to anything the mage wants to do, but no, the mage cant just walk upto him and with his little dagger slice his throat, instead he has to go ahead and blast him with horrid wiltings to finish the job.... my foot

If someone was helpless, unable to move before me, and I had a weapon I should be able to kill them instantly, AKA Coup De Grace..... that just never made much realistic sense to me, but than again, it's a game...

anyway...

Coup De Grace... fort save 10+damage done or die... dang

not many situations allow for a coup de grace in any form of play....

Yep, and to make it better, a Coup De Grace ALWAYS hits and is ALWAYS a critical. So.. just imagine Coup De Graceing with a Scythe icon_biggrinno.gif

I made a Dwarven Barbarian who had over 400HP without any special items.

I called him "The Meatball".
