Greater Power

Other names: The Black Lord, The Black Hand, The Lord of Darkness, The Ultimate Tyrant

Worshipers alignment: LN, LE, NE

Domains: Evil, Destruction, Hatred, Law, Tyranny

Favoured weapon: "The Black Hand of Bane" (Morningstar)

Dogma:

Serve no one but Bane. Fear him always and make others fear him even more than you do. The Black Hand always strikes down those who stand against it in the end. Defy Bane and die- or in death find loyalty to him, for he shall compel it. Submit to the word of Bane as uttered by his ranking clergy, since true power can only be gained through service to him. Spread the dark fear of Bane. it is the doom of those who do not follow him to let power slip through their hands. Those who cross the Black Hand meet their dooms earlier and more harshly than those who worship other dieties.

he's dead. lol

all I can tell you is that his sentience is imprisioned in an artifact known as the "Crown of Horns". Its not known whether or not he can still grant spells, someone is granting spells in his name, however.

He cannot grant spells since he does not have a divine essence anymore. The ones granting spells in his name is either Cyric or Kelemvor. Most do get spells from Kelemvor though.

Hmm dead you say, I think not. If he is dead why is he talking to me in my dreams?

Since this is not the IC forum I will say the following:

Myrkul is dead. He was killed during the Time of Troubles on top of Blackstaff tower in Waterdeep by Midnight who later became Mystra at the end of the Time of Troubles.

And if your character hears his voice in your dreams it is probably Cyric pretending to be him.

Referring to Nerull, he is a DnD 3rd edition god in the world known as Greyhawk. He does not exist in Forgotten Realms thats why I cannae do him since he is not listed in any Forgotten Realms material.

Do you know If the standard 3e rules just use Racial (Yondalla, Garl Glittergold) and Greyhawk gods for the standard? (like Kord and Erythnul and all of them)

Greyhawk is the original D&D realm created by Gary Gygax(who created D&D) so I belive they still use Greyhawk as the base stuff.

Ao's DR is 20, it means he is an Overpower. According to the book "Waterdeep" 3rd book in the avatar trilogy Ao also answer's to something unknown above him. Many have discussed who it is, and most people come to the conclusion that it is the Gamemaster he answers to, since the GM after all controls even Ao's actions.

And Greyhawk gods are not used for Forgotten Realms, and therefore not Dyso, since Dyso is set in the Forgotten Realms

Well this isn't official or anything, but in a book I read it strongly hinted at Ao being Paladine from the DR series. That may just be an author's lisence at work, or may be the way WotC will decide to go in the future and thus permitted this author to do so. Who knows.

That would probably be very untrue. Since Paladine after all is a LG god from Dragon Lance and has his own realm on Mount Celestia on the Outer Planes. Whereas Ao is neutral in every way possible. He does not care for the lives of mortals, he only cares of the gods do their job in accordance to their portfolio and upkeeping the balance. The 2 personalities are too far apart to have Ao be the same as Paladine. And besides the Forgotten Realms god Tyr also resides on Mount Celestia and he holds about the same, if not more godly power than Paladine does, yet Tyr is still has to obey the rules set by Ao on the Tablets of Faith.

In response to Zenithan's post:

Intermediate Power

Other names: Wonderbringer, Lord of All Smiths

Worshipers alignment: Any

Domains: Craft, Earth, Fire, Knowledge, Metal, Planning

Favoured weapon: "Craftmaster" (Warhammer)

Dogma:

Actions count. Intentions are one thing, but it is the result that is most important. Talk is for others, while those who serve Gond do. Make new things that work. Become skilled at forging or some craft, and practice making things and various means of joining and fastening until you can create devices to suit any situation or space. Question and challenge the unknown with new devices. New inventions should be elegant and useful. Practice experimentation and innovation in the making of tools and the implementation of processes and encourage these virtues in others through direct aid, sponsorship, and diplomatic support. Keep records of your strivings, ideas, and sample devices so that others may follow your work and improve on what you leave behind and encourage others, such as farmers and hunters, to think of new tools, improved ways of crafting and using their existing gear, and new ways of doing things. Observe, acquire, and store safely the makings of others and spread such knowledge among the Consecrated of Gond. Discuss ideas and spread them so that all may see the divine light that is the Wonderbringer.

There has been a bit on Corellon's DR, but I don't think you have covered him in depth. There are a few lines in the PH about him, but anything else would be nice.

If not, then how about his big enemy, Gruumsh?

I'm sorry, but this has been bothering me for a while now...

Is the true neutral's perspective on "keeping the balance" really a lawful neutral trait?

they serve that one philosophy for their entire lives, make unbreakable oaths, and do all that shizznaz vowing that they will keep balance, but for some weird reason that seems like a Lawful neutral trait to me... As if the balance of everything would be upset if they did not stick to doing virtually the same things over and over...

I dunno...

i'm guessing neutral could be described like that for some.
Other could be described more as chaotic neutral whe they for no apparent reason whatsoever kill someone they've protected for a long time.
True Neutral is the hardest alignment to play properly but mostly it can be likened to that of animals.

If you need food you kill, if you raise your kids you protect them, if you can't feed them you abandon them to their fate, if you're attacked you kill, if you're helped you're gratefull or if you're really hungry after someone helped you you eat them anyway, if your enviroment is in danger you take steps to protect it, if that means wiping out an outbalanced species whether rabbits or humans you take steps against them, if there is a species necesarry to the balance of your enviroment you take steps to protect their extinction.
True Neutrality isnt so much concerned with morals, one could say true neutrals are less concerned with preservation and planning but more with the present situation one finds oneself in.
