Fellow Dysotopians,

For too long the overland passages between Eleriina and the Butterfly Fields have been lost to the Ogrish and Goblin armies of the Eastern Plains and the Forest Pass. With the leave of many of my fellow citizens it may be possible to have an island of security in the midsts of those perilous and lawless lands. Myself and several valiant comrades desire to construct a watch tower or some other suitable fortification that will act as a safe haven for those travelling these lands. It would act as a military base for operations against those fiends and also as a place of rest for tired travellers moving through those harsh and empty lands. We do not expect the Crown to pay for such an enterprise in construction nor for its upkeep, that burden would be carried by ourselves. It should be noted that in a time of great peril when these lands are threatened by foreign opponents, leaving these lands nearly vacant of order is not in the interests of any citizen. If such a valiant enterprise interest you then please find me or voice your opinion to the authorities. If you desire to support this noble enterprise then you must seek me out with the greatest of haste.

I thank you again for your time in reading this statement,
Your humble servant, Caranthir Thargelion

With all due respect- I know you would like to start an escort service and/or a fully developed order, but this seems to be a disguised proposition to creating your own stronghold.

I strongly believe that this individual understands the needs of the adventurer, as I have often wondered the same thing myself. I'm all in favor of this. I say we begin construction immediately! It will save many lives.

What you don't realize is Caranthir is the head of an order- the Order of the Hunt- wether this stronhold is for adventurers, or his order, we do not know.

If you really want to build this......fort or whatever you stupid city-dwelers want to build, you'll need our support (Druids) since otherwise this fort isn't going up without a fight. If you wish, seek me out and talk to me about this.....fort.

Selene, Grand Druid of the Druid Circle

I say yes, but only for a small tower. Casle no, fort no, something small tho that gives view of the area so as to see when the Ogres are slaying helpless, yes.

Too many times have I seen my friends and countless others die to the Ogre armys. I will pay with all the little gold I have to help in the funding. However, it is not much. Ogre slayers dont get paid yee know icon_smile.gif
Errr it must abrove to the CIrcle tho icon_mrgreen.gif

The ones that I find out voted Let the Ogres rule the land will perish. Do you not know what ogres do to the land? They chop down its trees and burn everything in there path. This can not be allowed.

I talked with Caranthir about this issue and I agree there should be something to allow some protection againts the ogres in the area, ONLY as long as it does not ruin any of the gifts nature has given us. It's hard keeping the forests in that area clean of the destructive ogres, so a small tower may be helpful.
I'm sure we can all come to an agreement that will be benificial for all.

Like I said brother Hurin. A small tower only made to view the land. Perhaps for only a few people. OR some kind of tower that gives protection from the ogres for a good rest.

My fellow citizens. It warms my heart to hear many voices of support rise to back this noble venture. Even those words of criticism are done in a manner demonstrating their firm concerns for our fair lands. I vow that myself and the valiant hearts that stand with me shall keep watch on these lands and provide sanctuary for the weary. Some of mentioned here or in person of interest in aiding in the funding of this project... of course we are grateful of any monetary support although if any wish to seeka an active hand must search me out or post their interest here to enlist.
I should explain several issues brought up here or to my attention in person so that this objective is made clear. First, we shall hold this land as a fief of the Crown and will pledge our loyalty before pemission is granted to begin construction or a stretch of land granted.
Secondly, myself and many of my Brethren are of Elvish heritage and are not about to start tearing down the forests. As for myself I find few joys to match that of riding through these forests when the leaves turn gold. To further alleviate the concerns of the Druids, the proposed site is actually on the Eastern Plains, in the shadow of the forests, not within the trees. It must also be noted that we are fond of the hunt but reckless individuals have overstepped the bounds of preserving the rich life of these forests. Ogre-eater hunting comes to mind... lust for gold has removed those who naturally keep the ogres at bay. Rather than wait a century for their numbers to return it will be more expedient instead for us to fulfil the role which they once played to preserve this order.
Thirdly, the precise nature of this proposed outpost should be made clear (although in more exact detail in some more suitable place). My vision is that it this shall function as a watchtower and base for my small company of troops to lend their support in times of need. The Brethren of the Hunt will be responsible to fulfil the duties already mentioned and use this as a Guild House. A structure comparable in size to the Guardhouse in Eleriina is all that will be required. We would have either a common room or adjoining mess or pub for adventurers and travellers to rest their heads and find a warm meal.
The project shall promote the overland links between Eleriina and the North West and encourage trade. As the Goblin and Ogrish forces in the region are so numerous I do not see this as upsetting any balance here but actually reinforcing that which the Druids and others seek to maintain.
I shall endevour to meet with any concerned individual who has support, suggestions or even misgivings with this proposal. Again those who wish to serve alongside our patrols must seek me out for there are several whom have already caught my eye but many more I think who would relish the rigours and discipline of military service.
Your humble servant, Caranthir Thargelion.

I have spoken with Caranthir many times, and I have not a single thread of doubt of his intentions. They are noble and selfless. Furthermore, the issue of security had been lingering for some time; an expansion of a civilized security force should be welcomed.

My good halfling friend... fear not, the gold spent shall be my own although we are happy for contributions (coin and blade) from any interested citizens. Also once the caravans open I am certain there will be more gold for all who dwell in the North.. and that is to say nothing of the stolen wealth that the ogres and goblins have taken from hapless travellers. Gold there shall be for those who covet its 'shine'. I myself prefer the spending.

Norrec... I shoulld like to meet and discuss this at our earliest convenience. I also must speak with Head of the Druids also in order to explain our intent and how it in no way compromises these forests. Again though.. any who wish to discuss this with me should send a courier. I will listen to any who in turn will hear my ideas.

I think there shuld be a large castle with Catapults and Cannons along the walls. so that when ogres approach Burning Waste and Cannonballs are fired down into the forest in their general direction, this would not only possibly kill the ogres but also eliminate the problem of people cutting down the druid's precious wood, and would provide a clear space where the cannons and burning waste could be fired at the ogres without damaging the trees, as there will be no trees there. also bowman with flame arrows atop of the castle wall is another necessity.

I'm sure it would also be possible to find some gnome to invent a contraption for the castle where if the Gate is knocked down then scores of flames come from the opened gates extending for miles to eliminate the whole line of ogres in its path, sure it may damage some of the forest but it would get rid of the ogre problem. And we all know Fire does the trick best.

Well... I am not certain that we could afford such a mighty stronghold... a second-hand catapult and ballista is about all the equipment we could afford to lay our hands on.

I dare say though I am all for paying for a few archers to stand on the roof of the tower to aid those enroute to the outpost. Should the Crown grant us permission we shall dedicate all of our finances and efforts to constructing a worthwhile structure that will allow us to conduct our duties while not antagonizing the Druids or others near to us.

Selene, Grand Druid of the Druid Circle. We have not formally met and this is a shame for some of my dear friends consider themselves yours. Again I pledge to you as an Elvish Knight who couples honour with his love of the splendour of these lands that this will not create a threat to those woods. It is imperative that we meet for there is no question that we must cooperate in pressing back the chaos and bringing balance. I am of course one who prefers order to either chaos or even the balance between the two... but I am also realistic. It is beyond the means of myself or comrades... even if we were to recruit a hundred additional troops to make this a regimented land. There are just too many goblin and orgrish tribesmen. Order is likely only to exist as far as the arrows shaft may fly. Chaos shall lurk beyond bowshot... the balance shall be maintained. I look forward to your comments and an expedient council between our Houses.

It is fine to hear such as yourself Jilessa, for we are always welcoming those who wish to serve such a valiant vision. I suggest you find me and we can speak then of what your thoughts are regarding this plan.
As for those who wish to meet with me regarding concerns should endevour to seek me out as I do you. It has been unfortunate that since my conversation with Hurin, I have been unable to locate others who stand high in the Druid heirarchy.
It may be advisable that further concerns be expressed here especially those of a public nature. This naturally is not my preference, but may be required so that this effort may be put into motion. Please refer to my earlier statements in regards to your concerns over possible threats to the forest, I dare say on that issue there is absolutely nothing to be concerned about.
