I wouldn't feel a slight tingle of sadness if we torched every last centimeter of all the Media offices in the world and brought public operation into play instead of our system of innacurate crap reporting.
Too much nowadays Journalism suffers from "Raw Factism" and gives no perspective to their data. If they read off a tax cut, they don't mention what % of the governments money that is, or how much it averages to give back to taxpayers.
if they write an editorial, they write crap. uninformed, useless ranting crap. for instance: the columbus dispatch recently wrote an editorial (that landed on the front page of the Sports section) about how the university of alabama didn't pick a black coach. woohoo. a national power university based their coaching decision based on race, not winning % or how good the actual coach was? my ass squeezes out gold, oh, no, sorry... it expels what these people are writing.
my problem with the media is 2, maybe 3 parts...
1) they don't have enough time to actually learn about what they are writing about
2) not enough of them care about good information
3) too much they don't have enough expertise in the area they're actually writing. for example, the "connect" section, in the columbus dispatch. there's a woman that gets payed to answer email in the newspaper by giving people URLs to helpful sites. I want that job. there's about 1 good columnist in that section. the rest of the product reviews, computer fixing tips, and and WEBSITE <hint: use Google, dumbass> reccomendations can go to hell and burn for all I care.
Again: I believe that modern day media is (for lack of a better word) flawed. badly.

[/rant]

yes, those are all good. I'm talking about the INFORMATIVE articles they write. I don' trust the dispatch for any information at all any more. unless it involves reporting of events. Information (science, technology) no, events, yes. funny stuff, sure, nobody cares about accuracy there.

that only works when the other news organizations aren't basing their reports on crap data.
