Why did the server stop reporting who and where timestops are cast? It seemed like a good idea, since if someone abuses it, we'd know who.  Reply with quote

My bet is Mods and DM's still get it, so if they get multiple complaints about it they can "tell" or boot the TSers...

Even when was operating didnt report 100 per cent of time.So that could possible be reason no point in receiving deceptive information.  Reply with quote

Honestly I think that they stopped doing that because the players would get harrassed for timestopping, regardless of whether or not they were abusing it. Personally, I want it back, but this is more than likely the reason.

It's true. But I have seen the messages appear once of a while. Is it on or is it off?  Reply with quote

heh, the thing was, is that a message was sent to a person (only 1 on the entire server, completely random i believe) and it would say who was tsing, so if some mages were dueling in north el and YOU casted ts after 4 did and someone got that message, you would get the blame for all four time stops, heh... at least thats the notion i got, dunno if its right or not but i think thats what it did, as i got the messages sometimes and my friends got it other times...

*Whispers in the wind*

Funny thing happend a few weeks back ((still in version 3.x)) ...

Merorry and I happened upon an Ogreman Cleric (!) who cast TimeStop.
We ran. We ran.

Apparently, citizens are not the only ones who can cast TimeStop.

Yes and I believe it was bugged. Once a timestop was cast and the server was like that until it was reset. i believe it was because the ogremen were too high lvl.

Raven, i know that, but its stupid to give a cleric timestop, at least in NWN since the domains, even trickery, that is supposed to have timestop doesnt

I think that they did it to keep the masses of players satisfied. I mean, we already have to put up with Sorcerers and Wizards casting it all the time on servers. Then you have to deal with the scroll casters....

well, what he may have meant was that, sometimes when people TS the server crashes and when it does, the thing will stay in an infinite TS where you cant move at all until you get a disconnect and the server resets, mucho annoying... but maybe, if they used the actual 3rd edition rules for ts and it was randomely lasted from 1d4+1 rounds then ts would be a bit more exciting... its a simple script too, just over rides the build in spell and gives it a new way of working.... o_0 icon_mrgreen.gif

Actually on a server I was a part of for a long time, we had issues with people timestopping all the time. A way we got around chain casts of timestopping was (somehow) the scripter wrote a sctipt that if timestop was cast, it went off normal, but once the effect ended, the players action queue was disabled for a few moments (to give the effect of casting an incredibly powerful and draining spell). This caused ALOT of people to rethink their use of timestop. As once cast, and the effect done, the mage was vulnerable for a small amount of time. I have NEVER liked timestop. To me, it is as annoying as a few of the 'bugged' spells.

thats a good idea.....someone shoudl script that....
liek if a mage used timestop, once it wore off,
he should get ability decreases like when you havent rested and need to rest...which would last like 15 seconds or sumthin like that....

Ahh, but the thing is, with ability decreases, you can still cast it again.....with your action queue disabled for a few moments, you are totally vulnerable, which is the way it should be...I mean come on, you just stopped ALL process of time in the entire plane....I think that is a bit powerful enough to warrant 5 seconds of 'catching your breath' icon_smile.gif

actually timestop does NOT stop time, it just speeds you up to an unbelievable speed. also according to the real rules both protection from evil and protection from good make you immune to any effect done during timestop.

Page 108 NeverWinter Nights manual, bottom of the page

"Time Stop"

"All motion and action in the world stops except for the creature that has activicated the effect.

Well, i would belive that the creators of the game, who created the spells as they wanted them to be, would right about them correctly.  Reply with quote

well i got my info from the D&D 3e edition players handbook, so i guess it just depends on wether you go with D&D 3e edition rules or bioware rules.  Reply with quote

Bioware made the game, therefore I'll go with Bioware's rules. NWN is just "based" on the 3rd edition rules, like an adaptation of them.  Reply with quote

x and raven you F***ing jerk offs, figures some asshole wont even consider the other persons point of view, whatever.

solo is completely right about timestop, if you had any D&D knowledge at all besides the newfound lamers that just started playing a D&D game, you would know that timestop speeds you up by 10 10thousandths... effectively making you faster than the speed of light times 10...

lametards, god dang reading their posts pissed me off, assinine idiots..

So your telling me and raven, that the manuel that was created by the creators of the game, which in which we play the module...is wrong.

And i think you need to calm down....There is no need for such language, unless your nothing but a child....
